FOCUSING BASICS

DEPTH OF FIELD SHOOT

  SETTINGS:    AV     F5.0     ISO 800
failed attempt of depth of field because there was a limitation as there was not a wide enough aperture. The problem was that the camera kept focusing on the fence instead of the intended subject

SETTINGS:     AV    F5.0     ISO 800
Attempted  a low aperture on a water bottle just in case it was just  the photographer's errors but clearly it had worked. This may be due to the subject being up close so the camera was able to distinguish between the subject and everything else. Easier to put the background out of focus (OOF)

SO INSTEAD...

SETTINGS:     AV     F5.0     ISO 800
While the setting is the same,  I approached the low aperture in a different way, putting the two subjects in the frame with a blurred background. The two are at a distance from each other creating the illusion that he is much smaller than he is.
The photo is also slightly tilted to reflect the discomfort of being picked up by the head.

SETTINGS:     AV     F5.6     ISO 100
This was image was captured closer than those above and I took this because of the contrast of the bright violet colour against the dark green colour. I wanted to focus on the beauty of the flower. I included a bit of the wall to enhance the colour of the flower more and to highlight the difference between natural and artificial.

thank you (:
